Street safety and violence
Inside this section
Making our streets safer
Residents, workers and visitors have a right to enjoy safe streets within the City of Sydney, regardless of the time of day.
We are committed to making our streets as safe as possible. Part of our commitment is the installation of street safety cameras, which is traditionally a state government responsibility but due to a lack of funding over the past 10 years the City has instead ensured their installation.
The federal government rejected the City's appeal for new camera funding.
Violence at home
The City’s role in safety does not end on our streets.
The 'Domestic Violence is a Crime' booklet, written with NSW Police, contains information for people who are facing violence in their homes.
The City takes a stand against violence, wherever it is experienced.
