About this form


You can use this form to apply for approval to undertake minor filming or still photography (non-commercial) within the City of Sydney. If your project does not meet the criteria below, please complete the Film Production and Photography Application.


Please note that if this application form is submitted less than 48 hours (2 working days) prior to shoot date approval is not guaranteed


Minor activities are defined by the following criteria:

  • No more then a total of approximately 10 personnel will be on-site
  • No disruption is caused to the City's stakeholders, retailers or motorists or other events in the vicinity of the activities
  • Activities are contained to footways or public open space areas only
  • Public safety is maintained at the locations at all times during the conduct of the activities
  • Vehicles associated with the conduct of the activities are legally parked at all times and are not driven onto footways, parks or plaza areas

Privacy and personal information protection notice

Purpose of Collection: For management of parks and open spaces in the Council area.
Intended recipients: Council staff and approved contractors of the Council of the City of Sydney.
Supply: The News Crew Style and Minor Filming Application is voluntary however a completed application form is required for filming and photography in the City's parks and open spaces.
Access / Correction: Council staff or Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) requests.
Storage: Council's record management systems and Archives.
