Inclusion and diversity

Increasing awareness of the contribution and needs of people living with a disability is an important part of the City of Sydney’s role to promote social inclusion and diversity. The City proudly sponsored the 2012 London Paralympics.

In 2014, Australia earned 2 bronze medals. Toby Kane won Australia its first medal for the super combined, followed by Jess Gallagher winning back-to-back bronze medals with her giant slalom triumph on the final day of competition in Sochi.

Sydney snowboarder Ben Tudhope will be Australia’s youngest flag bearer for a Paralympic Games when he leads the team out in today's closing ceremony.

Australia’s 2014 Sochi Paralympic team included 9 athletes and 2 sighted guides – including 3 snowboarders who competed in the first para-snowboarding event.

The ABC is broadcasting Paralympics highlights on television and online.
