Snake, rattle and roll
Colourful night-time markets, a Trocadero glamour ball, and the Twilight Parade are just some of the events happening over Chinese New Year.
The Sydney Chinese New Year Festival is one of the most popular events in Sydney’s calendar, and this year we welcome in the Year of the Snake.
The two-week festival launched on Friday 8 February at Belmore Park, with dancing dragons, night-time markets and firecrackers.
Get a spot early on Sunday 17 February for the Twilight Parade. The parade starts at Sydney Town Hall and winds its way to Chinatown, where it will finish with a bang at Darling Harbour.
For the first time, you can experience the retro glamour and glitz of the Dragon Ball on Saturday 23 February as the City revives the social event of the local Chinese community from the 1930s-70s. Bookings essential.
Don’t miss the Snake Snake Snake exhibition from 5-23 February in Lower Town Hall. There’ll also be free artist talks and demonstrations.
This year Taronga Zoo is our charity partner and funds raised will be used for research and conservation.
