Making parking easier

The City’s new draft parking policy is now on public exhibition. We are reviewing our parking policies to improve access for visiting friends and family and to make delivery options easier for local businesses. Quick shopping trips will also be easier for motorists.

Our draft neighbourhood parking policy is intended to be simple, consistent and more user friendly. It includes:

  • visitor parking permits for residents, including people who don’t own a car
  • cutting the number of parking precincts to reduce complexity
  • 15 minutes of free parking on the city’s neighbourhood retail streets for a 12-month trial
  • business parking permits citywide, so vans, utes and other small commercial vehicles can make deliveries
  • care worker permits for people who provide in-home care for the elderly or sick
  • 4P limits after 6pm in streets where cafes and restaurants are concentrated.

We are also working on a transport plan for central Sydney, which is being developed with Transport for NSW as part of the light rail project.

The draft policy is on public exhibition until 5 July. Have your say
