Sydney bells ring again

The much-loved bells of Sydney’s 140-year-old clocktower are ringing again after a careful restoration by some of Australia’s leading heritage experts.

Getting the best for our City

Cities are an enduring legacy. Great design in both buildings and public spaces encourages imagination, innovation, inspiration and pride – creating a city that people want to live and work in, as well as visit.

And working for better solutions

Since 2008, around $9.4 billion worth of quality development has been determined by the City – transforming housing preferences and employment practices.

Building our economy

The City’s new draft economic development strategy provides a long-term plan for strengthening the city’s economic output – currently valued at more than $100 billion per year – and supporting the 22,000 businesses and 435,000 workers that call our city home.

New city creative hub

Following the success of the City’s creative spaces program on Oxford Street, two Council-owned properties at 101-111 and 113-115 William Street have been turned into affordable work spaces.

Supporting Sydney start ups

Across Sydney, our creative entrepreneurs and tech talent are building innovative businesses our city needs for a long-term sustainable economy.

Getting Sydney moving again

The NSW Government recently released its Sydney City Centre Access Strategy. The plan balances competing demands for limited city centre road space, and delivers better public transport options while reducing congestion and providing a better deal for pedestrians.

Art and About Sydney

Art and About Sydney is one of Sydney’s favourite public art events where every street, laneway, building site, intersection and thoroughfare in our city is a canvas for creation and storytelling.

Sydney is riding

31,600 City of Sydney residents are on their bikes every week! To celebrate Sydney’s growing love affair with bikes, we’re hosting the Sydney Rides Festival.
