Customs House Library is the latest addition to the City of Sydney Library Network.

With access to a network of libraries holding over 400,000 items, Customs House Library houses a collection of over 50,000 items.

Visitors to the library will experience a combination of both contemporary and traditional library spaces spanning over three floors.

Library catalogue computers are provided on the ground floor, levels 1 and 2. The loans desks are on levels 1 and 2 only. Returns are made in the Information Desk shute located on the ground floor lobby.

Ground Floor

Featured in the ground floor lobby is the library's newspaper collection, magazines and Internet service. A public lounge offers a range of international and Australian newspapers. In the adjoining room is the magazine and paperback collection, and the library's popular Internet service and electronic database access.

Level 1

The eastern wing of Level 1 houses the children's collection in bright and welcoming surrounds. Also on this level is the audio visual collection, fiction A-K, Japanese and Korean collections as well as a loans desk. The western wing of Level One is an exhibition and function space, open to library users.

Level 2

Level 2 is dedicated to the library and is the quieter more traditional library space featuring the Reading Room, overlooking Customs Square. Also located on this floor are the main book collections (non-fiction, reference and fiction L-Z), the library training room, where public computer courses are held, meeting rooms that are available for hire, an information desk and database access.

Customs House Library is open seven days a week. For more information visit the City of Sydney Library Network website .
