The Burning Season exhibitions Digital Media Wall - Ground Level, Exhibition Lounge - Level 1, & Exhibition Space - Level 2 19 June – 26 July 2009 Every year deliberately lit fires rage across Indonesia. They destroy pristine rainforest, endanger orangutans and contribute to climate change. Dorjee Sun, a young carbon trading entrepreneur, goes in search of a solution. Hugh Jackman narrates this documentary and Al Gore and Arnold Schwarzenegger appear in the film about the destruction of our rainforest and the threat to orangutans. The film had its international premiere at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival and also screens at the Sydney Film Festival in June 2009 in conjunction with the World Society of the Protection of Animals (WSPA) to mark World Environment Day. Customs House is proud to be screening the documentary trailers on the Digital Media Wall. The Exhibition Lounge on level 1 will focus on a photography exhibition of the orangutans highlighted in the film. And the Exhibition Space on level 2 will display stills from the film. Russell James photography exhibition Customs House Square forecourt 7 & 8 July 2009, 7am - 4pm Customs House will host a photo gallery of work by Australian born international photographer Russell James for the Australasian launch of his retrospective photography book 'Russell James'. James is known for his work for Vogue and Victoria's Secret, as well as his personal nomadic work focused on the Aboriginal peoples. This exhibition will feature on Customs House Square forecourt in an erected gallery and will be open to the public on 7 & 8 July. Image: Russell James
