HERITAGE WEEK

March 21, 2007
Level 2, Meeting Room

Authors Gina Pinto and Cristina Coelho of ‘Partly Portuguese Almost Australian’, talk about this pioneering project that took over three years in the making. As first-time writers, theyl shared insights into their self-publishing success that took them from a passion for preserving their family history to an in-depth look into the Portuguese legacy in Australia. Stories were told of Portuguese explorers setting foot on Australian soil in 1522, the early migrants of Watsons Bay who averted countless shipwrecks into Sydney Harbour and stories of the hard-won journey of many from Portugal to Sydney in the 1950s and 1960s – including the authors’ parents.
