Exterior applied finishes – technology and application
This workshop will be presented by Dr Donald Ellsmore with support from Porter’s Traditional Paints, Let’s Clean and Envirotox, suppliers of sustainable paints and paint removal systems.
Topics to be covered include exterior plaster stuccoes, masonry colours and finishes, joinery paints and conservation processes.
Participants will learn about the history of finishing of traditional buildings and how to select, make and apply sustainable finishes and how to make, specify and commission conservation finishes.
The main presenter, Dr Donald Ellsmore, is a specialist in architectural finishes and associate professor at the University of Melbourne, where he teaches the subject architectural finishes. He has researched the applied finishes on Australian buildings including Government House and Parliament House in Sydney.
Dr Ellsmore has recently researched the finishes on places in Millers Point and recently, the former home of John Fairfax.
Proceeds after costs of this workshop to the APT Longford Academy and student scholarship fund.
