Interior decoration and finishes – research and conservation
This workshop will be presented by Dr Donald Ellsmore with support from Porter’s Traditional Paints, suppliers of sustainable paints and interior finishes.
Topics to be covered in this workshop include processes for researching and understanding decorative finishes, including paint sampling methodology, which forms a key part of the research process. Participants will learn how to collect and analyse paint samples and how to select and use paints for conservation purposes and how to specify and commission conservation works.
The principal presenter, Dr Donald Ellsmore, is a specialist in architectural finishes. He has researched the applied finishes on many Australian buildings including Government House and Parliament House in Sydney.
He has recently researched the interior finishes on places in Millers Point and the former home of John Fairfax at Bellevue Hill.
