Plastering and plaster conservation
This workshop will be presented by Barrie Cooper on behalf of the APT Australasia Chapter at the Westox factory in Campbelltown.
Topics to be covered in this workshop include the history, tradition, range and properties of plasters in Australian traditional buildings, methods of reproducing and repairing interior and exterior plasters, the RAP method of repair of lath and plaster ceilings, Cocoon desalination of interior and exterior plasters and masonry, paint removal with D-Lam, and conservation strategies with lime and traditional plasters.
The presenter, Barrie Cooper, is a third generation traditional plasterer, conservation specialist and master plasterer with a wealth of experience working over many years on Australia’s oldest and most significant heritage buildings.
Barrie Cooper produces and supplies specialist plastering and conservation materials and systems through the heritage and conservation arm Westox.
Proceeds after costs of this workshop go to the APT Longford Academy and student scholarships.
