Repointing mortar joints
This workshop will be presented by David Young OAM, heritage consultant and leading expert on masonry conservation, and author of a forthcoming technical guide on mortars and repointing mortar joints in older buildings.
Topics to be include understanding the role of traditional mortars and their materials (lime, sand, and so on) changes in practice with the introduction of cement, the importance of using mortars that are compatible with the bricks or stones, and techniques and procedures for raking out and repointing mortar joints.
Proceeds after costs of this workshop to the APT Longford Academy and student scholarship fund.
