Occupation certificate

Occupation certificates

An occupation certificate gives approval to use or occupy a building (or other structure) in conjunction with the development consent or a complying development certificate. To obtain an occupation certificate complete an occupation certificate application.

When a development or work is completed a number of contractor certificates will need to be provided to verify that certain parts of the building are compliant with the BCA and Australian Standards.

For class 1b and class 2–9 buildings fire safety statements must be prominently displayed. Find out more, including the new fire safety certificate template and supporting guidelines on the Department of Planning and Environment website.
