Contribution programs

Some development in Green Square, Ultimo Pyrmont (‘City West’) and the Employment Lands may require a contribution towards the cost of providing affordable housing.

Providing affordable housing is a key focus of the City’s long term development strategy for those 3 areas. The redevelopment of these areas has increased land values, which has increased the cost of buying or renting homes making them beyond the reach of low to moderate income households.

Providing affordable housing ensures people living in low to moderate income households can continue to live and work within the City.

One of the following affordable housing contributions programs may apply depending on the location of the proposed development:

Green Square affordable housing City west affordable housing Employment Lands affordable housing

Refer to the map below to see where the 3 programs apply.

An on-site contribution amount is calculated as a percentage of the total floor area of the development. Monetary contributions are indexed yearly according to the relevant program.

Refer to the links above for current contribution rates and payment requirements in each area.
