Affordable housing contributions
Some development in Green Square, Ultimo/Pyrmont (City West) and the Employment Lands may require a contribution towards the cost of providing affordable housing.
Providing affordable housing is a key focus of the City’s long-term development strategy for these 3 areas. The redevelopment of these areas has increased land values, which has increased the cost of buying or renting homes, making them beyond the reach of low to moderate income households.
Providing affordable housing ensures people living in low to moderate income households can continue to live and work in the city.
One of the following affordable housing contributions programs may apply depending on the location of the proposed development:

An on-site contribution amount is calculated as a percentage of the total floor area of the development. Monetary contributions are indexed yearly according to the relevant program.
