Planning proposal

The planning proposal seeks to amend the Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2012 controls for various sites.

The proposed amendments to the planning controls for the sites listed are as follows:

39 Pine Street, Newtown

To identify the 'Three Proud People' mural as a heritage item.

37 to 61 Nickson Street, Surry Hills

To change the land use zoning from B4 mixed use to R1 general residential.

Road reservations

To identify portions of the following parcels of land as being reserved for classified road purposes by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS):

  • northern side of Henderson Rd, corner of Wyndham Street, Alexandria (43 Wyndham Street)
  • eastern side of Botany Rd, corner of John Street, Waterloo (1 John Street)
  • land at McEvoy Street, opposite Harley Street, Alexandria (6 Euston Road)
  • land fronting Botany Road for the property known as 377-497 Botany Road, Zetland
  • land fronting Botany Road for the property known as 583 Botany Road, Rosebery.

In addition to identifying the road reservations, an amendment to the land zoning map in the Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2012 is required to apply the SP2 classified road zone to the following 2 sites:

  • northern side of Henderson Rd, corner of Wyndham Street, Alexandria (43 Wyndham Street)
  • land at McEvoy Street, opposite Harley Street, Alexandria (6 Euston Road).

The Minister for Planning has issued an authorisation for Council to exercise delegation to make this plan under Section 59 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

The planning proposal and associated documents are available for download below. The proposal was previously on exhibition and submissions closed on 4 March 2013.
