Sydney LED Lighting Trial & Sites

Sustainable Lighting (LED Lighting) Trial

Sustainable lighting

The Sustainable Lighting (LED Lighting) Trial represents up to 2.5 per cent of City-owned public lighting.

The City’s LED lighting trial is an initiative supported by the C40 Large Cities Climate Leadership Group and The Clinton Climate Initiative.

The Sustainable Lighting Trial is expected to lead to:

  • identification of the most energy-efficient street lights for various environments across the Sydney CBD and villages
  • the selected lamp types being made available for installation
  • potential greenhouse gas reductions, as well as potential financial savings from resulting operation, maintenance and replacement costs.

Sustainable street lighting installation sites:

  • Darlinghurst - Darlinghurst Road from Bayswater Road to Macleay Street
  • Martin Place from George Street to Castlereagh Street
  • Circular Quay from George Street to Phillips Street
  • Alexandria Park
