smart ARTS is an arts and cultural festival designed for young people, by young people.

The 2016 event features an exciting program of creative opportunities and events including an art exhibition, careers forum and free creative workshops.

Kick off National Youth Week with a bang! Celebrate the launch of smart ARTS 2016 with an amazing array of artworks created by young people 15-26 years, plus live performance, digital media, film, projections and music.

Featuring a wide range of artworks on display, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, including collaborative and interactive works.

We invite you to view the exhibition and celebrate the individual and collective experiences of contemporary youth.

Creative Pros: Careers in the Arts Forum

6pm – 9pm

A creative forum for young artists focusing on arts careers, entrepreneurial opportunities, professional practice, applying for artist’s grants, residencies and how to approach galleries.

A panel of professional guest speakers who work across the arts will be on hand to answer your questions, discuss their experiences and provide you with tips and hints on how to get ahead in the industry.

Hosted by the dynamic Jessie Ray of Sydney’s Art Party, you have the opportunity to discuss your arts career with our panel of guest speakers:

  • David Greenhalgh – Archive Space
  • Pedro De Almeida – Gallery 4A
  • Ebony Williams – Carriageworks
  • Malcolm Frawley – Sydney Theatre School
