Juanita Nielsen Community Centre
Major upgrade for JNCC
Juanita Nielsen Community Centre's upgrade is well underway.
When complete, the centre will include:
- a new elevator and accessible facilities
- an updated gym, including new change rooms and air conditioning
- a new outdoor play area and new space for children's programs
- new rooms and kitchenette for community hire and classes.
Once works on the centre are complete, we will expand our recreational and community programs for all age groups and provide more space for community hire. As part of the upgrade, we will close Maclean Street to improve the after-school and vacation care service for 5–12 year olds.
Severe wet weather and heritage issues in the building have led to delays and the centre is now scheduled to open in the second half of 2016. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and thank you for your patience while we complete this important project.
Once completed, the centre will be more accessible and welcoming for the whole community.
You can still access the City's community services and facilities while the centre is closed. The fitness centre is located at the Mary McDonald Centre. View the fitness class timetable.
Adult learning classes, programs for young people and cultural activities are held at nearby City-owned community facilities.
The after-school and vacation care programs are located at 33–39 Riley Street, Woolloomooloo.
