Major upgrade for JNCC

Juanita Nielsen Community Centre is closed temporarily for a major refurbishment. The community centre will be made more accessible, with more space for the whole community.

The gym will be updated, including new change rooms and air conditioning.

Work is expected to take around 18 months.

During the refurbishment, the gym will be at the Mary McDonald Centre, just around the corner at 82 Bourke Street, Woolloomooloo.

We may make changes to class days and operating times, and we’ll let you know as soon as possible.

Free flow yoga

A harmonious marriage of hatha, ashtanga and vinyasa. Starting slowly, free flow builds up to a dynamic sequence of poses and movements, to awaken and energise. Ideal for all fitness levels.

Intensity: Low to medium

Meditation and gentle yoga

Involves simple guidance and meditation to tune in to one’s body and build body awareness, without any exercise agenda. Performed with gentle body movements as preparation for lying down, becoming still and being guided to stay with the body to allow awareness to deepen and unfold. The class runs for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

A non-cardio floor based workout that focuses on correct body alignment and encourages the deeper trunk muscles to lengthen and strengthen.

Intensity: Low to medium

Urban 30

Not for the faint hearted. There are no rules. No barriers. The only limits are those you place on yourself. If you are fit and not afraid of a challenge, then this is the workout for you.
