Major upgrade for JNCC

Juanita Nielsen Community Centre is closed temporarily for a major refurbishment. The community centre will be made more accessible, with more space for the whole community.

The gym will be updated, including new change rooms and air conditioning.

Work is expected to take around 18 months.

During the refurbishment, the gym will be at the Mary McDonald Centre, just around the corner at 82 Bourke Street, Woolloomooloo.

We may make changes to class days and operating times, and we’ll let you know as soon as possible.

Opening hours

Monday and Wednesday: 6am to 8pm
Tuesday: 10am to 8pm
Thursday: 9am to 8pm
Friday: 6am to 6pm
Saturday: 10am to 4pm
Sunday and public holidays: Closed

Women's only workout space on Tuesday: 9am–10am.

Gym outreach program Monday–Friday: 6am–11am (Tuesday women only).

Class descriptions

Box and burn

This intense full-body workout helps improve agility, speed, coordination, endurance and strength. 

Intensity: Medium to high. 


A high intensity cardio workout that pushes you to your limit, using a variety of boxing combinations and calisthenics that will tone, strengthen and build your confidence.

Intensity: Medium to high.

Fitness for all

A low-impact, 45 minute class, integrating resistance training for strength and stability, stretching and mobility work.

Intensity: Medium

Free flow yoga

A Vinyasa flow yoga that is fluid and faster paced. This class offers energetic flow and creative sequencing designed to inspire both mentally and physically.

Intensity: Low to medium

Functional 30

Not for the faint hearted. There are no rules. No barriers. The only limits are those you place on yourself. If you are fit and not afraid of a challenge, then this is the workout for you.

Intensity: High 

Functional zone

Taking inspiration from yoga, Pilates, mixed martial arts and dance, this class will strip away body fat, strengthen your inner core and increase your agility. 

Intensity: Medium to high. 


A non-cardio floor based workout that focuses on correct body alignment and encourages the deeper trunk muscles to lengthen and strengthen.

Intensity: Low to medium

Power circuit

High intensity class aimed at maximising strength and power while minimising training time. This class will improve both your strength and cardio endurance.  

Intensity: High. 

Yoga and stretch 

A slower paced class designed to strengthen and nurture your body focusing on body alignment and stretching to improve your flexibility, giving you a solid foundation to build your yoga practice.

Intensity: Low 


Gym benefits


No booking fee and no locked in contracts!

Membership includes access to all gym equipment and fitness classes.

On joining, your membership provides for a complementary fitness assessment and a one-on-one personal training program developed by one of our trainers.

We ask that you complete the pre-exercise health form when you join, which can be downloaded below, so we can make sure you're reaching your fitness goals safely.

Our staff

Our trainers are qualified, friendly and helpful. Whatever your fitness goal, our staff can help you get results. They are always on hand to encourage, help and advise you to make sure you're getting the most out of your workouts.

Outreach program

The gym outreach program works in partnership with clients engaged with local organisations.

Outreach clients require a referral from their case worker or organisation. Clients will receive 20 free visits to train at our state-of-the-art gym between 6am and 11am, Monday to Friday.

We welcome partnerships with new organisations.
