Major upgrade for Juanita Nielsen

Juanita Nielsen Community Centre is closed temporarily for a major upgrade. This will make the centre more accessible and welcoming for the whole community, with more spaces and facilities for a variety of uses.

Construction is expected to take about 18 months, beginning in mid-2014.

As much as possible, we want to continue the community programs at nearby City-owned community facilities.

Woolloomooloo Children’s Program will run the vacation care program at the Juanita Nielsen Community Centre through most of January 2014.

After school care will begin on Term 1, 2014 at 33-39 Riley Street, Woolloomooloo, on 28 January 2014.

We’ll keep this page updated and send out details of the program changes shortly.

Community barbecue

Our free community barbecues bring locals together in a fun, social environment. It's a great chance to catch up with old friends and neighbours as well as to meet new members of the local community while enjoying a delicious meal.

Food, drinks and entertainment are provided at the centre during winter. In the summer months, we hold the barbecues at Sydney Place, at the end of Dowling Street near the basketball courts.
