Spaces for hire

The refurbished Juanita Nielsen Community Centre is the perfect venue in Woolloomooloo for your private event and/or business meetings, workshops and seminars. There are a variety of spaces and workshop equipment available to hire. Please see details of spaces and fees below.

If you are interested in booking a space, please complete our online form for room hire booking enquiries. Once we receive your enquiry please allow up to 5 to 10 business days for a response.

Currently we are only taking single bookings. This is to provide an assortment of activities to be offered at the centre and enable equal opportunities to multiple community, business and local organisations. All bookings are subject to availability.

All hirers must provide a copy of their current public liability insurance of $10 million. Individuals and small community groups that do not have public liability insurance may be eligible to apply for cover under the City's community engagement liability policy. Not-for-profit rates are available on application. 

All bookings must start and finish during the centre's opening hours. There are no parking spaces available for hirers or their participants, apart from on-street parking with restricted hours of use during the day.

Conditions of hire

We ask that all venue hirers read and understand the City's conditions of hire, which covers:

  • cancellations and insurance
  • noise controls and cleaning
  • catering and advertising
  • parking, safety and other regulations.

Community hall

Cost – $80 per hour covers room hire and equipment use including:

  • trestle tables
  • chairs
  • power
  • ceiling projector and automated wall screen
  • audio system
  • PA system.

The hall has a timber floor and ceiling fans (please note, there is no air-conditioning).

  • Room size: 14.5m x 9.8m
  • Total area: 142m² 
  • Capacity: 80 seated/142 standing

Community room 1

Cost – $80 per hour covers room hire and equipment use including:

  • mobile cooking benches
  • trestle tables
  • chairs
  • power
  • ceiling projector and automated wall screen
  • audio system
  • PA system.

The room has a timber floor with side kitchen in the room and ceiling fans (please note, there is no air-conditioning).

  • Room size: 14.5m x 9.8m
  • Total area: 142m²
  • Capacity: 80 seated/142 people standing

The space is suitable for children's birthdays, business seminars, cooking workshops, creative arts workshops, small weddings or events.

Community room 2

Cost – $40 per hour covers room hire and equipment use including:

  • sink with paint trap
  • trestle tables
  • chairs
  • power
  • mobile projector on the table and portable screen.

The room has a timber floor with side sink in the room and ceiling fans (please note, there is no air-conditioning).

  • Room size: 4.5m x 9.8m
  • Total area: 44m² 
  • Capacity: 20 seated/40 standing

The space is suitable for business meetings, painting workshops, sewing workshops and small creative arts workshops.
