For the local community

As well as offering a variety of wellbeing, educational and cultural programs, Redfern Community Centre has many other services for local community members of all ages. 

Programs are available for preschool children and after-school youth services.

Program timetable

Monday 

  • 9.30am: Ballroom dancing (beginners)
  • 10am: iPad basics (fortnightly, 90 minutes, school term only)
  • 12.30pm: Ballroom dancing (intermediate)
  • 5.30pm: Hatha yoga

Tuesday

  • 10am: Life internet skills (school term only)
  • 1pm: Banners of Colour sewing group (fortnightly), Introduction to computers (90 minutes, school term only)

Wednesday

  • 9.30am: Seniors gentle exercise
  • 5.30pm: Hatha yoga

Thursday 

  • 10am: Preschool music group
  • 11am: Preschool music group
  • 1pm: iPad basics (fortnightly, 90 minutes, school term only)  
  • 6pm: Youth singing workshop
  • 6.30pm: NA meeting

Class descriptions

Aboriginal art gathering  

This program is open to anyone and everyone who wants a positive environment with which to express themselves and learn about Aboriginal art. 

Banners of Colour 

This sewing class is a great way to meet people and let your creative juices flow. 

Beginners' ballroom dancing

The beginners' ballroom dancing class for older people can be enjoyed on a social level. Partnered and single people are welcome.

Computer class

Develop computer literacy skills with these practical training sessions. 

Intermediate ballroom dancing

The intermediate ballroom dancing class is for people who have advanced from the beginners level and want to take it to the next step. Partnered and single people are welcome.

Preschool music group

This group gives your child the chance to learn through music and play with kids in the same age group. 

Community support

After-school and vacation care

Redfern Community Centre offers after-school care and school holiday programs for children aged 5 to 12 years.

If you are considering enrolling your child for the first time, we recommend you contact our children's program team. 

 

Community lunch

Time: 12pm to 1.30pm.

Our free community lunches aim to promote healthy eating practices. They are open to residents from the Redfern and Waterloo communities.

Youth program

Our youth program is open to people aged 13 to 24 years in the local area.

Redfern Community Centre's music space, StudioRCC, offers a young guitar group for people aged 11 to 16 years.
