Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre

Did you know?

The mural alongside the 50 metre pool was painted by Wendy Sharpe. It shows scenes from the life of Annette Kellerman (1886-1975), a professional swimmer from Australia who became a vaudeville and movie star in the USA.

Health and recreation

Located near the heart of the city centre by St Mary's Cathedral, Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre is a high-quality swimming and fitness facility. The centre is open all year round and features full access for people with a disability.

The pools

We have a 50-metre pool (ideal for lap swimming), a dedicated leisure pool (with a wave machine!) and a hydrotherapy pool. All are indoors and heated.

The fitness centre

The fitness centre has a full-size gym complete with separate cardio and weights studios plus a 'spin' room and another room for yoga, boxing and other group classes. We have the latest equipment and members/guests are supervised by expert staff.

We recently unveiled our new outdoor training area, called the Air Gym.

Other facilities

Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre has a multi-purpose court for basketball, indoor soccer and other sports, a café and adjacent public car park, too.

Classes and coaching

In the pool:

  • swim squad training
  • aquarobics
  • gentle exercise in the hydrotherapy pool
  • swimming classes for babies and children
  • SwimFit for adults
  • lunchtime lap-swimming sessions.

In the fitness centre:

  • pilates
  • yoga
  • boxing
  • cycling (Spin)
  • and many more group fitness favourites.

We also offer personal training sessions and programs for teens and over 55s. Specialist health and wellbeing programs are offered to breast cancer survivors and people experiencing mental health issues.

Indoor sports (netball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc) competitions are held at lunch-time and in the evening.

Special services

The Therapy Max clinic offers physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, clinical pilates classes, massage therapy and other rehabilitation/sports injury services.

Our children's services include playgroups, gymnastics classes and a school holiday program.
