Find parking space
If you need to bring your car into central Sydney there are a number of parking options available.
The City operates 2 car parks in central Sydney and Kings Cross and there are a number of off-street car parks also available in the local area.
Around a quarter of the City's on-street parking is metered pay parking that accept coins, while some take credit cards and mobile phone payments. Rates vary depending on the location and time of day or night.
From 1 December 2013 the City has introduced free 15-minute parking in main street retail areas outside the city centre on a trial basis for 12 months.
If you're a City of Sydney resident or business owner, you may be eligible for a parking permit, which may exempt you from parking time limits and meter fees.
If you hold a Mobility Parking Permit, you can enjoy free parking for a certain period of time in designated parking zones, which applies to parking zones with meters or ticket machines.
Every parking meter in the local area is inspected, tested and maintained regularly.
If you do encounter one that isn't functioning, call the contact number displayed on the parking meter itself at the time to report it otherwise you may be fined.
