Rock, Rhyme and Storytime
Sessions for babies and toddlers
Our libraries present storytime and rhymetime sessions to introduce young children to the wonderful world of books, music and craft. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Admission is free and no bookings are required.
Rhymetime
This is a lapsit program for babies (0 to 2 years) that combines rhymes, music, singing and toys to develop early literacy skills. The sessions run from 10am to 10.25am.
Storytime
A fun session of story telling and craft for pre-schoolers (3 to 5 years) that fosters an early love of reading and develops skills in literacy and social interaction. The sessions run from 11am to 11.45am.
Monday: Newtown Library
Wednesday: Green Square Library and Kings Cross Library
Thursday: Surry Hills Library and Ultimo Library
Friday: Waterloo Library
Rock 'n' Rhymetime at Glebe
Glebe Library runs its sessions on Tuesday.
Rhymetime: 9.30am to 9.55am
Rock 'n' Rhymetime: 10.15am to 10.45am
For toddlers (2 to 3 years) who are ready for action with music, rhymes, movement and stories.
Storytime: 11am to 11.45am
During school holidays and on public holidays there are no storytime or rhymetime sessions.
The NSW school term dates for 2013 are:
- Term 1: 29 January to 12 April
- Term 2: 29 April to 28 June
- Term 3: 15 July to 20 September
- Term 4: 8 October to 18 December.
Chinese Rhymetime and bilingual storytime
These sessions will run until 4 April 2013.
Chinese Rhymetime
For ages 0 to 3, this will be an animated sing-along session in Mandarin for babies and toddlers. Sessions support language and literacy development as well as providing a wonderful experience in sharing cultures. The sessions run from 10am to 10.30am.
Monday: Green Square Library.
Tuesday: Ultimo Library.
Bilingual storytime
Ideal for ages 3 to 5, bilingual storytime is a fun session of storytelling and craft activities for preschoolers. Stories are read in Mandarin and English. The sessions run from 11 am to 11.45am.
Monday: Ultimo Library.
Tuesday: Green Square Library.
