From one library to another
If you're looking for a book that is not listed in the online catalogue, you can request an inter-library loan from a library that already has the book in its collection. If your requested item is available for loan from another library, delivery to your nominated City of Sydney library branch will take between 3-4 weeks. A fee applies, details at right.
Inter-library loan items must be returned to a City library branch.
To request an inter-library loan
- Login to the online catalogue
- Click the 'Borrow from a different library' tab
- Complete the request form
- Click 'Save'.
You will be notified when your item is ready for collection.
Fees for inter-library loans
Fees for inter-library loans vary. Some public libraries charge $3 per item. Others, including the National Library, can charge a minimum of $16.50.
If you need the item in a hurry, some libraries are happy to rush through your request, but it will cost a minimum of $33 + courier charges. Again, the other library will notify us of their rate.
