Barcom Avenue Park Opening (48 images)

The residents of Sydney’s inner city suburb of Darlinghurst celebrated with their neighbours as well as staff and patients of St Vincent’s Hospital on Saturday 3 February 2007 as Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP opened the revamped Barcom Avenue Park.

FBi Radio DJs welcomed the crowds with a smooth blend of reggae and hip hop and the Lord Mayor officially opened the park by unveiling a commemorative plaque.

Barcom Avenue Park has been increased in size from 1650 square metres to 3500 square metres and the design is a benchmark for environmental design principals. The park collects and reuses storm water from St Vincent’s roof for irrigation and utilises a planted bio-swale to naturally purify the water.

The park is located at Barcom Avenue, Boundary Street and West Street in Darlinghurst.
