As part of the City of Sydney’s vision to green the city and preserve our heritage, the $1.32 million restoration of Bellevue on Glebe Point was celebrated with an Open Day on Saturday, 3 March 2007.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP was on hand to officially open the beautifully restored building with the ceremonial unveiling of a cast bronze plaque. The restoration marks the completion of Stage 3 of the $15.1 million redevelopment of Glebe Foreshore.
After years of neglect rendered the house almost unrecognisable, the sympathetic restoration delighted all visitors, especially those from the community, the unions and the Glebe Society who had fought so hard to save the house from demolition in the 1970s.
Residents at the Open Day enjoyed a musical quartet, morning tea, a historic photo gallery and signed a guest register.
