Primo Italiano 2006
The sun shone down on this year's Primo Italiano drawing crowds of around 30,000 people. The red, green and white clothes strung across Stanley Street got a good airing across the piazza and the fountain enticed passers-by to make a wish. Sicilians danced, swing band crooners sang and piano accordians serenaded the people. Coffee aromas filled the air as the crowds enjoyed al fresco dining and a spot of providores shopping.
Winelovers sampled Montepulciano and Valpolicello at the Lord Roberts Hotel to the sounds of the Italian pop DJ, while car lovers inspected the new Alfa Brera and Fiat Punto across the road. Primo Italiano's Ambassador Beppi Polese lapped up the celebration of all things Italian with his wife Norma and a crew from Mtv.
