Worm farmer, Green Villages champion

"Worm juice makes happy plants. When I first moved to my apartment there was just one tree in the garden. Now it is full and everything is thriving.

I was given my first worm farm after doing a course in Glebe. With this Green Living Centre program, myself and the other worm champions now look after 24,000 worms, and extract the juice for our whole apartment block. The worms were a bit stressed when they first arrived and tried to escape, but now they are very happy.

The next stage is encouraging other residents to put in their peelings and scraps to feed the worms and to use the juice on their gardens and balcony plants.

People in big cities can get easily isolated. This is a great way to bring neighbours together and get to know each other, while doing something sustainable at the same time."
