Sydney People

Urban gardener, cyclist and green enthusiast

“I’ve totally transformed my life thanks to advice from the Green Living Centre, a joint project between the City of Sydney and Marrickville Council.

“My garden is a different place – my lemon and lime trees are producing an abundance of fruit and my herb garden is flourishing.

“I attended a City of Sydney workshop to find out if I could create my own nutrient-rich fertiliser, and the results have dramatically improved my backyard.

“I’ve totally stopped using pesticides and the fertiliser from my worm farm has brought my lime tree to life.

"Last year, I had no limes at all and this year I’ve had a fantastic crop.

“I’m also more energy efficient, we make sure lights are switched off at home and I cycle to work as often as I can. It’s better for my health, saves money and is a great environmental choice.

“I was fairly new to gardening when I first attended a Green Living Centre workshop at Newtown Library and was intrigued to find out if I could run my own worm farm.

“The results were amazing.

"The Green Living Centre does a fantastic job educating people about how to do their bit to help save our one and only planet.”
