Ephemera can make you think
Most of the time, the junk mail and other ephemera that we encounter is almost subliminal - we glance at the 'special offer' or the restaurant menu, and quickly forget. Sometimes, however, an item can attract more attention, and even be confronting.
The five items illustrated here were all collected in Surry Hills in May and June 2010.
These items could be no more than normal expressions of political activity and entertainment in Sydney in that year. From another perspective, they could represent divisive and destructive social trends.
