Change or cancel registration

How to change or cancel pet registration details

If you move, change your phone number or mailing address, or you sell/give your cat or dog to a new owner, you must notify the City of Sydney so we can update the details or you may be fined.

These details are securely stored on a database and should always be current so owners can be contacted if a missing pet is found or taken to a vet or animal shelter.

When a dog or cat is sold or given away, the original owner must let us know or they could be fined.

To change any details, download the appropriate form below and post, or take it to a Neighbourhood Service Centre.

When a pet passes away

If your cat or dog passes away, you need to let us know so we can cancel your pet's registration. Download and complete the Deceased pet register form. Once the form is submitted, you will no longer receive notifications from the City about your pet.

Please note: your vet will need to sign the form.
