Area 20 Pyrmont – now Area 20 Pyrmont & Ultimo

New parking policy

A new parking policy is being rolled out progressively across the City over 12 months from late August 2014.

What changes with the new parking policy?

  • Area 20 will merge with Area 14 to create a new larger parking area – it will be known as Area 20 Pyrmont and Ultimo (see Area 20 map).
  • Existing annual Visitor parking permits will be phased out after 12 May 2016 – residents who hold these permits can renew them until then, after which time the household will revert to the daily Visitor parking permit scheme (see visitor parking permits or new parking policy for more information).
  • Existing Business parking permits will be phased out after 12 May 2016 – businesses that hold these permits can renew them until then, after which time they will need to meet the new eligibility criteria (see business parking permits or new parking policy for more information).

What stays the same?

When will the changes happen?

  • During August 2014 the new Area 20 will be created and signs with 'Area 14' will be changed to 'Area 20'.
  • During August 2014 letters will be sent to current parking permit holders to update them on the changes.
  • Eligible households and businesses can apply for the new Area 20 Visitor and Business parking permits from August 2014.
  • Existing annual Visitor and Business parking permits will be phased out after 12 May 2016.
