Area Glebe

New parking policy

A new parking policy is being rolled out progressively across the City over 12 months from August 2014.

What changes with the new parking policy?

  • Glebe (Area G), Glebe Point Road (Area GPR) and part of Camperdown (Area 30) north of Parramatta Road will merge to create a new larger parking area – it will be known as Glebe (see Area G map).
  • Existing annual Glebe Visitor parking permits will be phased out after 12 May 2016 – residents who hold these permits can renew them until then, after which time the household will revert to the daily visitor parking permit scheme (see visitor parking permits or new parking policy for more information).
  • Existing Glebe Business parking permits will be phased out after 12 May 2016 – businesses who hold these permits can renew them until then, after which time they will need to meet the new eligibility criteria (see business parking permits or new parking policy for more information).

What is new in the policy?

What stays the same?

When will the changes happen?

  • From 15 September 2014 the new, larger Glebe parking area will be created, and parking area signs with 'Area GPR' and 'Area 30' will begin to be changed to 'Area G'.
  • From 9 September 2014 letters will be sent to current parking permit holders to update them on the changes.
  • Once the boundary changes happen you will be able to park in the wider area of your new parking area when the spaces close to you are full.
  • Eligible households and businesses can apply for the new Area G Visitor and Business parking permits from 22 September 2014.
  • Existing annual Glebe Visitor parking permits and Glebe Business parking permits will be phased out after 12 May 2016.
