Win a family pass to New Year’s Eve!

The RTA is pleased to announce details of the 2009 New Year’s Eve ticket competition!

You have the chance to win one of more than 1700 family passes (for five people) to watch the fireworks from one of the best viewing spots in Sydney - the Cahill Expressway above Circular Quay.

This is a family friendly event, with entertainment as well as a range of hot food and refreshments for sale. No alcohol or glass is permitted.

How can I win tickets?

Family passes will be given away free of charge for the 9pm and midnight fireworks sessions via an online public competition. The website will be open for registration from 12.01am on Saturday 14 November and close at 11.59pm on Saturday 28 November 2009.

Winners will be notified by mail no later than 21 December.

Darling Harbour

Free event – Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority
Darling Harbour will host a sensational free program for 2009 Sydney New Year’s Eve from 7pm to 1am. 
Herald in 2010 under the glow of two massive fireworks displays and the glitter of one giant mirror ball!
Darling Harbour is a family friendly environment where glass and BYO alcohol is strictly prohibited. Alcohol, food and other beverages will be available to purchase from venues within Darling Harbour.

Midnight at the Oasis (Fleet Steps)

Bring: Torch, blanket, warm/wet weather gear. Due to restricted vessel capacity limits apply as to what can be taken to the island. Hand luggage only. No chairs, shelters or large / wheelie bin eskies permitted. All luggage must be able to fit on your lap for transfer to the island.

Access: Circular Quay wharf will operate under a managed access program for New Years Eve. Ticket holders will be required to assemble at the NPWS / Sydney Ferries meeting point on Alfred Street – opposite Customs House for escorted transfer to the wharf.  A map outlining the exact meeting point will be provided to all ticket holders. Ticket price includes return transport from Circular Quay.

Strickland House Lawns, Vaucluse

Strickland House is managed by the State Property Authority, a division of the Land and Property Management Authority.  NPWS has been contracted to sell tickets for New Year’s Eve fireworks viewing on the lawns of Strickland House..

One ticket per person must be provided to gain entry and kept as proof of authorised entry (children included).  Entry is subject to the conditions provided with tickets. This is a family friendly event.
Parking: None - local road closures will be in place so use public transport.

Taronga Zoo

Access: Site entry via New Beach Rd and Yarranabbe Rd. Resident only vehicle access. There may be local road closures surrounding Rushcutters Bay and Darling Point including New Beach Rd. Road closures may occur at the discretion of Police on the night. This site is accessible for people with a disability.
Parking: Limited street parking available pre event. Clearway along New Beach Rd. Use public transport. There is no specific parking for people with a disability.

Bondi and Bondi Beach

Waverley Council will be running its successful 'My Bondi Summer' community safety campaign again this year. The campaign will combine a series of managed events with strict enforcement of the alcohol free zones in and around Waverley’s three beaches main beaches: Bondi, Tamarama and Bronte.

Bondi Beach

The Shore Thing Licensed 18+ dance event is being held again at Bondi Beach Pavilion and Bondi Park from 9pm to 3am featuring international djs; Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia and Roger Sanchez .  Tickets are on sale from Midday 26 October 2009 from fuzzy.com.au, Ticketek, Electric Monkey Records, Bondi and The Globe Newsagency, Bondi Junction . Bus transport to and from Bondi Junction bus rail interchange is included in the ticket price.

Consume alcohol responsibly. Anyone found to be intoxicated will not be permitted entry and/or will be asked to leave the event. This is a drug free event. Anyone found with illegal substances will be handed over to the Police. Alcohol Free Zones will be strictly enforced outside of the event.

Dudley Page Reserve

Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and watch the Sydney fireworks at Dudley Page Reserve, Dover Heights.  There will be food stalls, licensed bar (sorry, strictly no BYO alcohol), free kids rides, performers and laid-back entertainment for all.

This is a ticketed event and numbers are strictly limited. Ticket prices are; Family $30 (2 adults, unlimited kids 15yrs and under), General Entry $18, Pensioners $10, Kids FREE (15yrs and under accompanied by a paying adult)

Alcohol Free Zones

Police and security staff strictly enforce the alcohol free zones around Bondi, Bronte and Tamarama beaches and parks during the festive season particularly Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day and Australia Day to make sure that people only drink within licensed premises/events within the area.

Public transport will be in operation.

Special event buses for ticket holders of the NYE event at Bondi Beach will operate between Bondi Beach and Bondi Junction to help ferry partygoers safely and quietly home. Additional user pay buses will run from Bondi Junction and Dudley Page Reserve (Dover Heights). User pay charter buses (eg. 380 bus) will operate as per normal timetable.
