The Studio Workshop Program offers a variety of courses which are delivered by specialist tutors and professional artists in a friendly and engaging studio environment. Artistic development is encouraged through all courses and students of the Studio Workshop Program are encouraged to display their work in the Student’s Exhibition.

STUDIO SAFETY: It is an OH&S requirement that all students attending all courses at Pine Street (including our Darlington Centre) must wear closed toed shoes at all times. Students arriving with open toed shoes will not be allowed entry to the studios. Students will be inducted at the start of term on studio safety.

Printmaking

Printmaking courses provides opportunities for students to engage in a wide range of fine art printing techniques - from intaglio to relief. Using non-toxic processes, etching and engraving, our studio offers an outstanding facility for printmakers. Students are encouraged to choose from a variety of methods to suit their own artistic style.

 

Drawing, Painting, Sculpture

 

Painting

The centre aims to provide a broad range of mediums and techniques by offering traditional to contemporary courses in artforms like painting, drawing and sculpture. The courses we offer change each term, so make sure you contact us or download the latest program for specific information.

 

 

Computer and Publishing

Digital class

There is a wide range of current software programs which can be used edit video, create web sites, develop digital interactive projects and design desktop publications. In Photoimaging (Photoshop) classes, students learn a range of skills to manipulate photoimagery. A great course for students interested in building their portfolios or simply to add value to their photo collections. Prerequisite on all digital courses: basic knowledge of computers

 

 

Ceramics

Wheel work

Ceramics at Pine Street encourages students to gain an understanding of clay bodies and their various decorating and drying stages. Beginners learn techniques in creating flatware, forming basic bowls on the wheel as well as glazing, firing and finishing. This is a relaxing art form that gives students the chance to use what they make.

 

 

Silver Jewellery

Silver leaf

The Silver Jewellery Studio provides a dedicated space for artists to practice the art of design and production of silver and glass jewellery. Techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering and polishing can be applied using hand tools and torches. Silver jewellery at Pine Street takes students from learning basic techniques to wax carving and making chains. Students can wear what they make or make gifts for friends

 


Weekend Workshops

Master classes give our students the opportunity to enrich skills and echnical knowledge. These classes focus on special techniques and are aimed at extending students' skills within the particular artform. Master classes are usually short, intensive workshops that provide an opportunity to explore specialized practices. Courses vary from term to term.
