Her poetry has appeared in various journals and anthologies, including in translation for the Serbian journal, Trci Trg. Valerie Khoo is an award-winning feature writer whose articles appear every week in The Sydney Morning Herald. Before becoming a freelance writer six years ago, she was features director of CLEO. Josephine Starrs - Josephine is a senior lecturer in Film & Digital Arts at Sydney College of the Arts (University of Sydney), Rozelle. Mayu Kanamori
Mayu was raised in Roppongi, Tokyo where her family still lives. She migrated to Australia in 1981 and studied philosophy and writing at Toorak College in Melbourne. Mayu started her career in journalism in 1992 as a researcher and photographer for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age newspapers' Tokyo Bureau. For the past ten years, Mayu has been working as a freelance photo journalist, writer, radio broadcaster and photo media artist based in Sydney. As an artist, Mayu employs her experience as a journalist to create multi media art documentaries, working in collaboration with artists from other disciplines, including theatre and installation works. She exhibits her work in galleries and in theatre venues, often as part of arts festivals in Australia and overseas. She is also the recipient of the 2001 Broome NAIDOC Non Indigenous Reconciliation Award for the sound and slide documentary performance The Heart of the Journey. Her radio feature Chika was finalist for 2004 Walkeley Awards for Excellence in Journalism In 2005, Mayu's digital and photographic works have been chosen as finalist for 2005 Harries National Digital Awards, 2005 Olive Cotton National Photographic Portrait Awards and 2005 Conrad Jupiters National Art Prize. As a photo journalist, Mayu has contributed to a wide range of publications including magazines, newspapers, and news services both Australian and international. Mayu has taken the photographs for four books.

"My career in photography started at 19, after leaving school the year before, and having no idea of where I was going or what I wanted to do for a living. I wasn't academic at school, but I fancied myself as being artistic. I stumbled into the photographic world by accident, after a friend of mine's father had a photographic lab, and I started as a cleaner there, with the hope of learning the trade. Within a year I was managing the place, and stayed four years. For the next four years I travelled and worked in Commercial Labs in Toronto, Canada, then London, UK. After returning to Sydney in '74 I opened my own Lab and ran it until recently for almost 30 years. On the art side, I took to exhibiting almost twenty years ago to fulfill my artistic side and have been quite successful in that area, having had over forty five exhibitions." - Ian Lever

James Findlay – James has worked in film and TV for the past 7 years, recently finishing work for in-house children’s drama at the BBC in London. In 2006 he wrote and directed the short film Vend which won Best Film at the St Kilda Film Festival. Vend was also winner of the Golden Star for Best Film at the VSM Short Film Festival in Hollywood and was a finalist at the 2006 IF Awards. He currently works in the Commissioned Production Branch of Screen Australia.
