What we’re doing

We plan to upgrade Cooper Street Reserve and Adelaide Street Reserve in Surry Hills.

We’ve developed a concept design for the reserves based on your feedback from our consultation in 2023.

Our concept design for Cooper Street Reserve includes:

  • removing the fencing and a barrier wall to improve access and sightlines
  • a new shared path to improve safety and access
  • new retaining and seating walls
  • new garden beds and plants for a greener space
  • replacing one small tree with another tree nearby
  • a water bubbler with dog bowl and bin with dog bag dispenser.

Our concept design for Adelaide Street Reserve includes:

  • new plants under the tree canopy for improved greening
  • upgrading the paving to improve access and safety.

Both reserves will have new furniture and fixtures to improve comfort and convenience, including bench seats and lighting.

We’re also improving the Surry Hills to Central quiet way on Cooper and Arthur streets. We will invite community feedback on this project separately.

Why we’re doing this

This is part of our parks upgrade program where over the next 10 years we will upgrade more than 60 parks across the City of Sydney area, from small pocket parks to larger local parks.

We’re asking local community groups and residents for their feedback on the concept design. We’re interested in understanding who uses the current space, what works and what doesn’t. We’d also like to hear any ideas you have for the space.
