What we’re doing

We’re planning to plant 32 weeping lilly pilly trees in the roadway in Queen Street. This will allow the trees to grow in enough soil, and away from overhead cables and narrow footpaths.

These trees will provide shade and contribute to our area’s overall resilience in the face of a changing climate. To plant the trees, we propose to install a series of landscaped median strips in the centre of the street, which will also help calm traffic.

Plan shows 3 sections of the street with medians and new trees. 3 medians will be between the intersection of Johnson and Reserve streets. 4 medians will be between Reserve and Collins streets. And 2 medians will be between Collins and Beaconsfield streets.

Next steps

We’ll report all feedback and design changes to Council, and will continue to a detailed design. We’ll keep you updated on the progress of this project.
