What is the Card?
The card provides subsidised entry to the City’s Aquatic + Fitness Centres for City of Sydney residents who are low income earners. The card is also available to dependents 16 years and under who live with eligible low income earners. A Brochure with an Application Form is available for download.
What are the benefits of the Card?
For those that love the water the card allows entry for a swim for $2.00. The card includes access to the steam and sauna at the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre. For those looking for a workout, the card gives you access for $5.50 to the fitness centres at:
- Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre
- Victoria Park Pool
- Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic & Fitness Centre.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible you must:
- Be a resident of the City of Sydney
- Have a valid Commonwealth Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card.
What identification do I need to apply?
Two forms of identification showing your current residential address.
How long is the Card valid for?
The card is valid for one year from date of issue, after which you will need to reapply.
Applications under financial hardship
For those City of Sydney residents that do not have a Commonwealth Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card and feel they are experiencing financial hardship, the City may be able to assist by providing you with an Aquatic + Fitness Access Card.
Eligibility criteria as at July 2009
(based on gross household income)
- Individual – One adult
$29,094 - Couple – Two adults
$29,094 to $47,381 - Family – Adult/adults + child/children
$47,382 to $80,180
Financial hardship documentation
The following documentation must be presented upon application:
- Medicare Card (for the assessment of families only)
- The most recent ATO Tax Return of all working adults in the household
- The most recent payslip of all working adults in the household.
Applicants must not hold assets or property which could reasonably be used to ease their financial hardship.
