We recently installed kerbside hedges on Cleveland Street from South Dowling to Chalmers streets, improving the appearance and safety of the street.
After receiving positive community feedback on the project, we are extending the hedges and paving along Cleveland Street from Chalmers Street in the east to George Street in the west.
Cleveland Street is a state-owned road and the Roads and Maritime Services requires work to be carried out during the night.
The City's contractor, Ford Civil Contracting Pty Ltd, will start work in May and carry it out in stages to minimise disruption.
Ford Civil Contracting will notify residents and businesses of construction times and dates before works are due to start outside their property.
Most household waste in this area is collected from James Street. Where bins are collected on Cleveland Street, spaces on either side of new and existing trees will be left for residents to place their bins for waste collection. This occurs only at the first 4 houses next to Pitt Street.
There will be no changes to current parking arrangements. Regular paved breaks in the hedging allow people to access a parked car from the footpath. Hedges will be set back from the kerb so people can get into and out of cars.
