Foveaux St. improvements

Foveaux St. improvements

Streetscape improvements

We have started work to improve Foveaux Street between Mary and Crown streets in Surry Hills. These works will improve pedestrian access and safety, calm traffic and make the street more visually appealing. The works will also create a better link for people walking to and from Central station and the Moore Park sports and entertainment precinct.

The works will provide:

  • a wider footpath on the northern side of Foveaux Street
  • a continuous footpath at most intersections on both sides of Foveaux Street
  • a new signalised pedestrian crossing on Foveaux Street near Commonwealth Street
  • upgraded traffic lights at the Foveaux Street intersections with Crown and Riley streets
  • garden beds and street furniture.

To support local businesses, all loading zones in Foveaux Street will remain.

Our contractor, Sydney Civil Pty Ltd, will carry out the works.

Work will take place from 7.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays, and 7.30am to 3.30pm on Saturdays. No work is permitted on Sundays or public holidays. Some night works at intersections with traffic lights will be required to maintain safety and reduce community disruption.

The City will minimise impacts as much as possible, but there will be some machinery noise. There will be temporary restrictions to vehicle parking and alternative pedestrian access will be in place.

Sydney Civil will notify residents and businesses of construction times and dates before the work starts.
