Newcombe Street upgrade

Newcombe Street upgrade

New plaza for Paddington

The upgrade works to Newcombe Street, Paddington are nearly complete.

We have planted 3 new Jacaranda trees and a new stormwater system has been installed. The main works, including the road reopening at the Oxford Street end were completed at the end of 2016.

The new plaza includes a grassed area and space for stalls as part of Paddington Markets.

The works associated with the private development of the 'Gordon' at 1 Newcombe Street, were completed in May 2017. The City's works associated with the private development at the site of 391–393 Oxford Street will be completed when the hoardings are removed later this year.

Standard construction hours will be 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and at other times, as strictly necessary, with the specific approval of the City. While there will be some impacts, contractors will keep noise to a minimum.

Council approved this project in June 2015 after consulting with the community.
