Use of the approved Green Square Town Centre Plaza space for public and private events from 2018 when the Plaza opens. Approval is sought for events such as community and cultural festivals, carnivals or fairs, music performances, exhibitions, arts events, large markets or live broadcasts. Proposed patron capacity is between 1,000 and 4,000 people. Up to 18 events are proposed per year. Major events (for up to 4,000 people) are to be limited to 6 occurrences per year, with three events having night time hours up until 10.00pm and three events – New Years Eve, Lunar New Year and one other – proposing to operate beyond midnight and up to 2.00am. Moderate events (for up to 1,000 people) are to be limited to 12 occurrences per year and night time hours to be limited to up to 10.00pm. Management of events is proposed to be subject to an Event Management Plan, City of Sydney Event Guidelines, an application to stage an event through the City’s Venue Management Unit and specific noise criteria.
