Heffron Hall

Refurbishment of Heffron Hall

East Sydney’s ageing Heffron Hall will receive a 21st century makeover to provide a brand new sustainable facility for cultural, creative and community use.

Across the road from Eternity Playhouse, the refurbishment of Heffron Hall will complement the area and help strengthen East Sydney’s creative hub.

The $10 million refurbishment of the hall will make it possible to run more activities for more people. New multipurpose spaces will be available for community hire, and there will be improved out-of-hours school care facilities for up to 30 children.

The proposed design will make the 1966 building more accessible and open it up to natural light and the neighbouring Albert Sloss Reserve. The reserve will also be renewed as part of these works.

Community consultation

A development application will be submitted to the City in early 2013, giving neighbouring residents the chance to see detailed plans and provide their feedback to the City.

Construction is expected to start in late 2013.
