Improvements to Belmore Park
Belmore Park is an inner-city park located between Central Station and Chinatown. It is popular with commuters and workers during their lunch break.
The City of Sydney is looking at ways to improve the park. We have enlisted consultants to carry out a feasibility study and a master plan.
Belmore Park is known for its wide grass areas, shaded tree-lined paths and plenty of seating. The park is well-lit at night and the main path benefits from safety camera coverage.
A popular spot for community events, Belmore Park has hosted Chinese New Year celebrations including the Chinese Noodle Markets.
Belmore Park master plan
The City is developing a master plan for Belmore Park that will:
- plan for recreational and community facilities as well event amenities
- explore links between the surrounding area, particularly Central Station
- guide future improvements for landscaping, biodiversity, stormwater management and heritage values.
The City is committed to listening to the community and will undertake extensive community consultation throughout the planning phases.
Feedback will be used to help develop a draft master plan that will be placed on public exhibition for further comment.
The master plan will outline many options and possibilities. Projects will be taken from the master plan, prioritised and developed further. Some projects may start quickly and others will have a longer term focus.
