Draft advanced waste treatment master plan
Advanced waste treatment technologies treat waste as a resource, by using mechanical, biological or thermal processes to harvest metals, recyclables, organics and renewable energy.
While the City of Sydney is already a leader in waste management, recovering over two thirds of the waste stream for reuse, the draft advanced waste treatment master plan demonstrates ways we can do even better.
The master plan reviews a wide a range of technology solutions and suggests converting our non-recyclable waste to a renewable gas as the optimal solution. Together with recycling, this method could divert over 95% of waste from landfill.
The exhibition period closed at 5pm on Wednesday 25 June 2014. Submissions closed at the end of the exhibition period.
