All cities need a secure water
supply. A safe harbour for ships and a clear stream of drinking
water were two of the most important characteristics in determining
the location for the little settlement of Sydney Town.
The history of Sydney, like the history of
many cities, is predicated on a continuing search for water
to supply an ever increasing demand. Dams… pumping stations…
reservoirs…stormwater drains…sewers. The story
goes on as long as the population keeps growing.
